We are looking for a Chartering Lead who thrives on creating commercial results through people.

Step into the role of Chartering Lead and help guide a motivated team of Chartering Managers within our Handysize Dry Cargo segment. Located in Singapore, you will collaborate with your peers across the NORDEN offices to develop and execute the commercial Handysize strategy for Pacific. You will report directly to the Global Head of Handysize, Projects and Parcelling.

This role is crucial for directing our commercial strategy through active market engagement, combined with motivating leadership and team enhancement.

What is in it for you
At NORDEN, you will contribute to a collaborative and empowering organisation with an international footprint. Our focus is on enabling individuals to lead with trust, accountability and a well-defined sense of purpose.

As Chartering Lead, you will be instrumental in creating real commercial value — from securing cargo and COAs to expanding into new markets. But just as importantly, you will help shape the team culture and ensure your team is supported, inspired and able to grow.

This role enables you to set an example while making significant contributions — across commercial, strategic and personal levels.

The tasks that await you
Your time will be divided between commercial execution and leadership, supporting your team's efforts to reach their goals.

More specifically, this means that you, commercially, will:

  • Be overall responsible for our day-to-day Handysize activities in Pacific
  • Coordinate with the Chartering Lead for Atlantic and the Global Head of Handysize, Project and Parcelling to set the overall Handysize period/core fleet strategy and execution.
  • Identify new opportunities to boost earnings by identifying and acting on arbitrage and short-term trading opportunities on cargoes and tonnage.
  • Enhance connections with customers, brokers, owners and other stakeholders.
  • Develop new trading areas and help the team build strong customer portfolios.
  • Ensure commercial compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Work closely with the Operations Lead to coordinate priorities and delivery.

All while you, as a team lead, will be at the heart of cultivating the NORDEN culture, built on trust, open communication, high performance and genuine collaboration. You will be the catalyst that brings this culture to life, creating an environment where people are empowered, inspired and ready to thrive.

To do so, you will set clear direction and challenging objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and promote professional growth, all while addressing performance and behavioural challenges with fairness and clarity.

It is important that you are not only focused on today or tomorrow but are able to see the team and company through a long-term lens, cultivating a future talent pipeline, mentoring trainees and ensuring a diverse, sustainable and resilient team for years to come.

Therefore, you will stay close to both the business and your team, overseeing daily operations, providing timely feedback to your direct reports and encouraging motivation and empowerment.

In every decision and interaction, you will empower your team today while preparing them, and the company, for a stronger tomorrow.

Your core qualifications
You are well-experienced in commercial matters, working collaboratively and motivated by growing people and performance.

You are set to mentor those around you — not only by determining the path forward, but by cultivating their potential.

You will thrive as the Chartering Lead if you:

  • Bring 10+ years’ experience in Dry Cargo Chartering, preferably from the Handysize segment
  • Committed leader who exemplifies motivation and works towards enhancing outcomes in a collaborative manner.
  • Balance long-term goals with attention to daily operations.
  • Flourish in a work environment known for its deliberate transformations.
  • Able to resolve conflicts and offer constructive feedback.
  • Embody NORDEN’s values and promote an inclusive, and respectful culture.
